Tim Magwood, Master Storyteller and Partner, The Mark of a Leader

Tim Magwood  has the mind of an entrepreneur, the heart of a coach & soul of a singer/songwriter. Tim graced audiences in stage productions such as Les Miserables (Royal Alexandra Theatre). In the mid 1990s, he joined ICE Communications as Senior Account Director. In 1999 he started Fusion Learning that became the fastest growing sales effectiveness training company in the country. In 2012, Tim sold Fusion and reunited with Doug Keeley at The Mark of a Leader. Tim loves harnessing the power of storytelling to inspire and equip leaders to build meaningful, healthy and creative cultures.

Jon Bowers, UPS Integrad® Site Manager, UPS

Through a combination of 3D computer simulations, hands-on learning and traditional classroom teaching, Jon Bowers oversees driver and delivery training at one of UPS’s next-generation training facilities. With a passion for defensive driving and thorough preparation, Jon helps ensure that the millions of miles UPSers drive every year are driven safely. The role has convinced him of the value of quality training and high expectations. Prior to his current assignment, he worked in UPS operations for 13 years. Jon is a Georgia native who graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s in theatre and film studies.

Kelly A. Nantel, Vice President, Communications & Advocacy, National Safety Council

Kelly Nantel is a globally recognized strategist and communications thought leader with more than 25 years of experience in executive communications, policymaking and crisis planning and response. In 2015, she was named Vice President of Communications & Advocacy at the National Safety Council to improve safety in the nation’s workplaces, homes and communities, and on the road.

Ms. Nantel has raised the organization’s profile through such successful national campaigns as launching a consumer-oriented automotive safety technology website that garnered 6 billion earned media impressions, benchmarking employer data on opioid overdoses in the workplace and developing education programs, and tackling cutting edge issues such as deaths and injuries related to fatigue.

Prior to joining NSC, Ms. Nantel served as the Director of Public Affairs at the National Transportation Safety Board, where she significantly enhanced the NTSB’s communications capabilities, coordinating crisis communications for dozens of major transportation accident investigations, from airline crashes, train collisions, pipeline explosions, bridge collapsesto maritime accidents.

Previously, Ms. Nantel led a team of public affairs professionals at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and served as the agency’s chief spokesperson on major national security investigations. She began her communications career at the Massachusetts Department of Correction.

Ms. Nantel has a bachelor of science in criminal justice and communications from Curry College.

Christopher A. Hart, Founder, Hart Solutions LLP

Christopher A. Hart is the founder of Hart Solutions LLP, which specializes in improving safety in a variety of contexts, including the safety of automation in motor vehicles, workplace safety, and process safety in potentially hazardous industries.

Until February 2018 he was a Member of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). In March, 2015, he was  nominated by President Obama and confirmed by the Senate to be Chairman, which he was until March, 2017. Prior to that he was Vice Chairman of the NTSB, after being nominated by President Obama and confirmed by the Senate in 2009 and 2013. The NTSB investigates major transportation accidents in all modes of transportation, determines probable cause, and makes recommendations in an effort to prevent recurrences. He was previously a Member of the NTSB in 1990, having been nominated by (the first) President Bush.

Mr. Hart’s previous positions have included:

  • Deputy Administrator for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)

  • Attorney with the Air Transport Association

Mr. Hart has a law degree from Harvard Law School and a Master’s Degree and a Bachelor’s Degree (magna cum laude) in Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association, and he is a pilot with commercial, multi-engine, and instrument ratings.
