Keynote Speaker Bios

Alejandra Cruz Ross, Transport Specialist, International Labour Organization (ILO)

Alejandra Cruz Ross is a national from Mexico and a lawyer by training. She has 13 years of experience in transport planning, programming and operational aspects. She been working for the ILO since 2013 first as a technical officer in the transport sector, and now as a transport specialist.  She is part of the Sectoral Policies Department. Alejandra is currently in charge of conducting global research and providing support to international meetings for the following sectors: road transport, urban transport, railways and civil aviation.

Alejandro Furas, Latin New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) Secretary General and Global NCAP Secretary General & Vice President of Technological Affairs

Alejandro Furas is the Secretary General of the New Car Assessment Program for Latin America and the Caribbean (Latin NCAP) and the Secretary General & Vice President of Technological Affairs of Global NCAP. He has been an FIA Foundation and Global NCAP Delegation member at the WP29 (UN Geneva) since 2011.

In 2008 Alejandro became the Project Engineer for EDU-CAR Plan, an initiative of the Fundación Gonzalo Rodríguez, FIA Foundation and the World Bank. In 2009 he became member of the team that developed Latin NCAP. Since then he has been responsible for the selection, purchase, transportation, testing and inspection of the vehicles as well as post-crash meetings and the publication of results of Latin NCAP, Safer Cars for India and Safer Cars for Africa programmes.

Alejandro earned his Mechanical and Industrial Engineering degrees at the Universidad de la Republica Oriental del Uruguay (UDELAR) in 2008.

Valeria Motta, Partnerships Manager, Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety

Valeria Motta holds a JD from the Universidad de Montevideo, Uruguay, and an MBA from the Instituto de la Empresa, Madrid, Spain.

She has been engaged in the road safety arena since 2015, working with NGOs, governments, and the corporate sector.

At the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety she is responsible for the design and implementation of the Alliance global policy work and call to actions, the delivery of advocacy campaigns, and ensuring efficient bridging between advocacy and communications. In addition to this she fosters strategic engagement and partnerships with the corporate sector, foundations and NGOs, and implements the Alliance fundraising strategy by identifying and developing prospective partnerships.

Sergio Rojas, Holistic Health Coach, Functional Movement Specialist and Certified Nutrition Specialist

Sergio has over 24 years of experience as a certified functional movement specialist, nutritionist, holistic health coach, corporate wellness consultant and public speaker.  He has coached and worked with thousands of individuals, plus dozens of companies and community organizations to promote physical and emotional health, including being appointed as the Executive Director for the President’s Council on Fitness & Sports in Washington DC.

Along with a multitude of certifications in exercise and nutrition sciences, Sergio is also trained in Conscious Leadership, Emotional Intelligence and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), and has a degree in psychology providing a well-rounded and effective approach to creating behavior change and achieving great results with both individuals and organizations.

Sergio spent 11 years as the Fitness & Wellness Expert for NBC5 in Chicago, has been featured on the Dr. Oz Show and the Today Show, and most recently developed an award-winning wellness program for long-haul truck drivers helping over 700 truck drivers to lose weight, get off medications, improve their driver safety record, and improve their overall quality of life.
