NETS Board Chair Sandra Lee Recipient of AALA Fleet Safety Award
Sandra Lee, director, worldwide road safety for Johnson & Johnson and NETS Board Chair, has been named the recipient of the second annual Road Safety Award, sponsored by the American Automotive Leasing Association (AALA). The award was presented at the recent Road Safety Conference, sponsored by the publishers of Automotive Fleet and AALA.
The Road Safety Award seeks to recognize candidates who have shown leadership, innovation, and measurable results in enhancing the safety of their employees, those traveling with them, as well as everyone else who shares the roads with them.
“Sandy leads a corporate road safety program recognized around the world for its breadth, width and results,” says Jack Hanley, NETS executive director. “Sandy combines strategic vision with tactical clarity to ensure J&J’s road safety program keeps J&J’s business drivers around the world safe today and in the future.”
Lee is responsible for Johnson & Johnson’s SAFE Fleet and safety policies for the company’s more than 33,000 drivers across the globe. Johnson & Johnson’s safety programs are part of its overall sustainability efforts, which include employees, family members, and the community at large in all of the company’s worldwide markets.
Sandra’s background includes over 20 years of experience in the fields of health, wellness and safety. Prior to her current position, Sandra was the Health & Safety Director with responsibility for health and safety services provided to North America Consumer and Personal Care Companies within J&J and for facilitating global ergonomics risk reduction efforts within this group. Her experience also includes the delivery of health, wellness and Employee Assistance Program services for US employees in manufacturing and R&D environments.
As chairperson of NETS, among numerous contributions, Lee has contributed to NETS’ role as a member of the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration, the principal steering committee for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020. Lee also has helped to shape NETS STRENGTH IN NUMBERS®™ Road Safety Benchmark program and has consistently been a member of the steering committee for its annual Drive Safely Work Week™ campaign.
