Dr. Jennifer Bell is a research epidemiologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), in the Division of Safety Research. Her work focuses on preventing work-related traumatic injuries, with particular emphasis on occupational motor vehicle safety.

Jennifer has led collaborative research initiatives with industry partners across sectors including mining, oil and gas extraction, logging, healthcare, manufacturing, and firefighting. Her research identifies injury risk factors, develops evidence-based safety interventions, and evaluates their effectiveness to improve worker safety outcomes.

She has authored or co-authored 37 peer-reviewed publications and technical reports, including four nominated for the CDC’s Charles C. Shepard Award for excellence in science. Her expertise includes analyzing complex data sources, such as workers’ compensation claims, auto liability data, and in-vehicle monitoring systems, to generate actionable insights that reduce risky driving behaviors and strengthen workplace safety programs.

Jennifer received her PhD in Natural Resources Science and her MS in Wildlife & Fisheries Management from West Virginia University, and her BS in Biology from Ursinus College. She is based in Morgantown, West Virginia.
